Residents and Non-ResidentsIf you wish to obtain a membership, you must apply in person at the Bancroft Public Library. Valid identification (example: Driver's License) with your current residential address and/or proof of land ownership is required. Regular memberships expire after each year and must be renewed in person at the library. At this time, you must also pay any outstanding fees. You will not be granted a renewal if you have any outstanding fines or overdue books. Please see below for more specific information on becoming a member.
Any resident or ratepayer of the Town of Bancroft - Ward1 (Bancroft) or Ward 2 (Dungannon) is entitled to a FREE membership at Bancroft Public Library. Proof of residency or ownership of property must be presented at the time of application. Memberships are not issued on-demand, but are completed as staff has time to process.

If you are a Non-Resident applicant (i.e. not from any of the above townships) you may still apply to be a member of the library for a fee of $25.00 per household per annum, or $15.00 per household for 6 months. Library Members may borrow up to 30 regular print books per card, up to a maximum of 50 per family. In addition, a member may borrow 2 magazines, 2 audio books and 2 DVD’s per card, up to a maximum of 5 per family. Due to demand, we also limit our lending to 2 new books and/or 2 books per author/subject for each membership.
Materials may be reserved at the Bancroft Public Library through the library’s on-line catalogue or by e-mail (The Library). Reserve requests should have patron name and contact number. The title of the book and the author should also be included. You will be contacted by library staff as soon as the material is available for lending.
Materials at Bancroft Public Library have varying due dates. Books are 3 weeks, magazines, DVD’s, audio books and new books are 1 week. If you wish to extend the loan period (renew), you may log-in to your account (using your card number and last four digits of your home phone number), ask at the desk, or e-mail the library at (The Library) giving your name and library card number. One renewal is permitted on all items except for new books and materials reserved for another patron.
The Bancroft Public Library charges 25 cents per item per day for overdue books and magazines, and $1.00 per item per day for mutimedia materials (DVDs and CDs).
